If you have decided to order and purchase new kitchen furniture, you will be faced with a multitude of questions, for example, what cabinet doors to buy, what work surfaces to install, and what would be the best choice of materials for your kitchen.

In this blog, we will try to introduce our potential and existing clients to some of the nuances of materials that should be paid attention to during the process of ordering and planning the kitchen. 

The basis of kitchen furniture is the bodywork. The most used materials for the body is veneers, MDF and laminated chipboards. Our recommendations is to choose laminated chipboards, paying particular attention to the finish of the edges of parts. The edge finish must be from PVC material, from 0.6 to 2 mm thickness. When using veneer or MDF for kitchen furniture bodywork, you have to consider substantially increased costs.

The next step is to choose the facades (doors) of the kitchen furniture. The options here are many, from the economic – laminated chipboard – to more expensive variants, including acryl materials. 

The most popular choices are :
• the economic variant – laminated chipboard (we particularly recommend the laminated boards of the German manufacturer Egger, they offer a very wide selection of decor);
• a more expensive option – painted MDF. The facades may be milled in various ways. The paintwork may be both mat and polished. An almost unlimited choice of colors;
• a still more expensive variant – solid wood facades. They may be created according to your requirements, using various paneling for decorative elements.
• a modern variant, usually for the facades of the upper cabinets – door frames of various aluminum profiles with integrated glass.

We particularly recommend using colored glass. This is a relatively new glass treatment technology. The result is truly worth it!!! An almost unlimited choice of colors. Comparatively affordable.

Our designers mostly recommend combined facade solutions, using laminated chipboard or painted MDF in combination with aluminum profile/glass facades, depending on the planned design of the kitchen furniture and your budget.

We would like to pay particular attention to the main component of kitchen furniture, the work surface. Usually three types of work surfaces are used:
• Chipboard pasted with 0.8mm thick plastic material – the economic and most popular choice. A wide selection of decor. Particular attention must be paid to the joining points and the integration of the sink. In these places sealants must be used to protect the chipboard from moisture. With correct installation and hermetic treatment this surface provides excellent service;
• Composite material work surfaces (Corian, Kerrock, Hanex etc.) – relatively expensive – usually used in „big budget” kitchens. A wide choice of decor and colors. The possibility to integrate sinks of the same material, no seams can be seen in the joining places. Flexible configuration technology. If the budget allows it, these surfaces are an excellent choice.
• Natural stone surfaces – an exclusive choice. An excellent solution to those who appreciate natural materials.
